Gentle readers,
Thank you for spending another year with JSRC (Japan Subculture Research Center). This year we’ve posted some great articles, some useful reference materials, and next year we hope to publish more. We will be back in mid-January of 2017, with a new sense of purpose, new material, and hopefully more frequent updates.
As always, contributions are welcome, and if we have a budget, sometimes we even pay.
May 2017 be a great year for us all.
Love your site. Love Japan, been for a visit came away loving it even more, especially Tokyo. Read “Tokyo Vice” gave it a rave review on Amazon and my Facebook page. Getting ready to transition away from SNS and back to my own web page and will give you a thumbs up there and a link. I see Japan as more in the future than the present. The novelist W. Gibson said the future is already here it’s just unevenly distributed. Since Japan is a mashup of all that’s traditional and all that’s new in the world why don’t you preview what’s on the cutting edge of culture in Japan? For example a handful of years ago Babymetal hit the international music scene and I couldn’t get enough of them. Kawaii was hardly known outside of Japan and Babymetal helped hype it onto the international stage. Could you do some articles on what’s barely breaking new in Tokyo and get it out to the world before it’s already old news in Japan? Keep up the good work.
Greg
Greg, thank you very much for the kind words. We will try to stay on top of what’s happening in Japan that’s hip and cool. It’s hard because I’m getting older and cranky.
